In the first year of ISU Startup Factory, we have built a world-class facility specifically for the startup companies. Our Cohort has raised more than $4 million in funding and companies have received several awards.
Iowa State’s Startup Factory is closing its first year at the ISU Research Park and preparing to graduate its first round of startup companies this week. The first cohort of 10 companies has raised more than $4 million in funding from various groups during their year working in the park.
Jennifer Chang- TAI Women of Innovation Award
Jennifer Chang of Complex Computation, was awarded the Collegian Innovation and Leadership award and a $2,500 scholarship at the 2016 Iowa Women of Innovation awards ceremony
Safi-Tech, IDTechEx Development Materials Award
SAFI-Tech, a member of the ISU Start Up Factory cohort, was one of three companies recognized during the IDTechEx Printed Electronics USA conference and exhibition in Santa Clara, for achievements in developing and commercializing printed electronics technologies.
Gross-Wen Techonologies Recieves SBIR Grant
Gross-Wen Technologies (GWT) has been awarded a Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) National Institute of Food and Agriculture.

Cohort II is in the second half of the 52-week program
The Startup Factory, a business incubator based in the Iowa State University Research Park, welcome 12 developing companies into its program. The new cohort of businesses cover a range of business sectors, from using biogenetics technology to treat muscular atrophy and other genetic diseases, to developing materials that can act as biosensors.
Cygnet, a bike-share company that provides a scalable solution for communities of all sizes, today announced it has signed a contract with the Clinton Convention and Visitors Bureau. The order, for a 20-bike sharing system, marks the first sale for Cygnet.
Cohort III started the 52 week program on June 29th, 2017.
